A former underground Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag-Au-Bi-Sb-As mine located in the N½ center of sec. 34, T24S, R16E (protracted), in the northwest corner of the camp, adjoins the New York Mine on the NW and parallels it, extending from Washington Gulch northeastward across the ridge and the Nogales Road, at an elevation of about 5,700 feet, on National Forest land. Owned at times, or in part, by the Allen Brothers; Pride of the West Mining Co. (circa 1905-1906); the Duquesne Mining & Reduction Co. (1906-circa 1915); Panick; Everett; Bostwick; Kansas Mining & Development Co.; Curtis Estate; Callahan Zinc Lead Co.; Nash Mines; and Mar-Pak Corp.

Mineralization is large, vein-like replacement deposits and bunches and pockets of sulfides in pyrometasomatized Permian Naco Group limestone, oxidized near the surface to limonite, other secondary minerals including lead and copper sulfates, with enrichment in silver. Mineralization is associated with a strong fault zone along the contact with Jurassic-Triassic volcanics. Strong pyrite gossan.

The deposit is contained in a 10 foot wide garnetiferous zone in crystalline limestone. It lies 700 feet from the contact of the limestones with the intrusive quartz monzonite on the NW, the intervening sediments being mostly unaltered, and it is about 200 feet from the limestone and quartzite contact. According to Crosby (A.I.M.E. Transactions: 36: 643, 1906) the main orebody is veinlike in form without walls, and clearly a replacement in the limestone, with many isolated bunches or pockets of ore from 3 inches (7.5 cm) to 3 feet (90 cm) or more in diameter, and usually parallel to the main orebody and the bedding of the limestone.

Mineral deposits of the Washington-Duquesne area occupy a limestone-sediment belt (2.5 miles long by 1.25 miles wide) surrounded by igneous rocks which also form detached masses and dikes within the belt.

Workings include a 200 foot inclined shaft and several hundred feet of drifts and stopes. Mined sporadically from the late 1870's through 1959. Produced more than 40,000 tons of ore averaging about 6% Zn, 4% Pb, 3% Cu, 4 oz. Ag/T and minor Au.
