A Au-Ag-Pb-Zn-Cu mine located in the NE ¼ sec. 7, T.23S., R.11E. Owned at times, or in part, by the Gold Zone Mining Co.; McDonald; Margarita Gold Mines Co.; Daniels; and, Wechler.
Mineralization is irregular, silicified blanket zone of numerous quartz veinlets and stringers containing abundant pyrite and very fine grained gold and silver mineralization associated mainly with oxidized sulfides. Country rock is a strongly silicified and sericitized Jurassic volcanic tuff.
Workings include numerous open cut, shaft and adit operations. Originally worked in the 1890's, but mostly in 1903 and from 1933 through 1941. The group produced some 4,400 tons of ore averaging about 0.3 oz. Au/T, 0.6 oz. Ag/T, and minor Pb & Cu.
Mineralization is lensing quartz-fissure veins containing spotty sulfides, partly oxidized. Wall rocks are Jurassic volcanic flows and tuff or Cretaceous sediments.
Workings are shaft operations. probably originally prospected in the late 1800's but worked mainly during 1939-1940 and 1947-1948 when the group produced some 220 tons of ore averaging about 8% Zn, 4% Pb, 1 oz. Ag/T, and minor gold and copper.
