A former underground Au-Pb-Ag-Cu mine located in secs. 15, 22 & 23, T4N, R13W, about 1 mile NE of Harquahala, 1 mile NE of the Bonanza Mine, on BLM-administered land. Started 1888. Owned at times, or in part, by the Bonanza and Golden Eagle Mining Co.; sold to Hubbard & Bowers after discovery - they formed the Bonanza Mining Co. (see the Bonanza Mine).
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a linear ore body. The main vein strikes S20W and dips about 50ºSE and occurs in quartzite. A few feet farther NE is a parallel vein that dips about 85ºNW. Gangue consists of coarse-textured, grayish-white quartz.
Workings include an inclined shaft about 400 feet (121.92 meters) deep at 45º with 450 feet (137.16 meters) of drifts on lower level & stopes extending from surface to the 300 level. Produced $1,600,000 (period values) in bullion is 3 years (1891-1894), together with the Bonanza Mine. Two assays showed the following results: Cu, 0.25 & 4.84%; Ag, 1.32 & 2.88 oz/ton; Au, 0.48 & 1.12 oz/ton.
