Turquoise King Mine
A former small surface and underground Cu-Ag-Au mine located in the NE ¼ sec. 20, T.19S., R.25E, ½ mile south of Turquoise Mountain on private land. Produced 1935. Owned at times, or in part, by the Leadville Mining Co. and the Holmes Copper Co. Mine operator A.M. Moore, 1935.
Mineralization is copper sulfides (Chalcopyrite, Bornite, and sooty Chalcocite) in small stringers, disseminations, and irregular replacements in steeply dipping Abrigo Limestone intruded by quartz monzonite porphyry dikes.
Local structures include smaller post-enrichment faults strike SW to N-S with variable dip. The Abrigo Limestone dips 70E locally. The faulted contact to the east is with Mississippian limestones.
Workings include a shaft(s). A total of some 1,460 tons of ore were produced in 1924-1926 and a few tons in 1935.
