A former small underground Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Au-Bi mine located on 9 patented claims in 1954, in the center of sec. 32, T.19S., R.25E, ½ mile NE of Gleeson, on private land. Produced 1902-1957. Operated at times, or in part, by the Shannon Copper Co.; Leonard Copper Co.; A.J. Hutchinson; and, the Peru Mining Co. Owned by the Shannon Mining Co., Subsidiary Of Illinois Zinc And Hydro Metals Corp, Tombstone, AZ (1957).

Mineralization is a replacement deposit of copper, lead and zinc sulfides, partly oxidized, in irregular, tabular pyritic orebodies in Carboniferous limestone along the contacts with intrusive quartz monzonite sills. Three quartz monzonite sills intrude into the limestone, and mineralization is present on all three. Some contacts are barren. Oxidation in upper 100 feet. Ore bodies vary in width from 10 to 60 feet (18.29 meters) and in length from 50 to 150 feet (45.72 meters).

Local structures include limestone thrusted over rhyolite. The fault dips 40W. The limestone dips 45E. One fault strikes N-S and dips 65SE, other faults strike E-W with steep dips.

Workings include a shaft(s). Stopes and drifts approach 10,000 feet on the 200 level. Six levels have been worked. Water level was at 230 feet in 1943. A 70 degree inclined shaft was used as well as a 600 foot vertical shaft. Total workings are 12,192 meters long and 182.88 meters deep. The Shannon Corp. conducted drilling until 1956, down to 600 feet.

The most productive mine of the district with some 700,000 tons of ore produced intermittently from the late 1800's to 1957.
