A former small underground Pb-Ag-W-Cu-Zn-Au mine located in South-central sec. 28 & North-central sec. 33, T.14S., R.28E., 2.9 km (1.8 miles) SE of Government Peak (coordinates of record), and 2 miles NNW of Apache Pass. 8 unpatented claims by the Silver Strike Mining Company, 1919. Discovered 1890. Owned and operated by James and Morris Cawood 1939 to 1955. Owned by the Silver Strike Mining Co. and the Devonian Strategic Minerals, Inc. Operated by F.W. & Pauline Clark (1956).

Mineralization is spotty argentiferous galena with other minor sulfides in a quartz plug along a fissure vein cutting Paleozoic and Cretaceous rocks (sandstone), close to a Laramide granitic intrusive. Spotty scheelite occurs in shear zones and quartz bodies in pyrometamorphosed Paleozoic limestone, along with copper and iron oxides. Host rock units are the Portal Formation, the Elpaso Formation, and the Bolsa Quartzite. Alteration includes tactite along intrusive contacts with garnet, epidote, and augite. The limestone is altered to the tactite.

Local structures include a strike-slip fault with approximately 1000 feet (300 meters) displacement approximately 1000 feet (300 meters) west of the mine. Paleozoic limestone with quartz monzonite intrusives is located nearby. Sediments unconformably overly Precambrian Pinal Schist. The intrusive dikes are vertical. NE-trending, 5 to 15 feet wide limestone beds strike WNW and dip 65-70SW.

Workings include adit and shaft openings. The 300 foot deep shaft was inaccessible in 1960. Other workings include an 80 foot inclined shaft and a 600 foot branching tunnel. Workings are 304.8 meters in length, 182.88 meters in overall length and 91.44 meters deep. A few hundred tons of lead-silver ore were produced intermittently between the late 1890's and 1919. Explored for tungsten in 1942.
