A former small underground Cu-Pb-Ag-Au-W-Zn mine group located on 5 unpatented claims, in the NE¼ sec. 24, T17S, R30E, G&SRM (Portal 15 minute topo map), about ¾ mile W of Paradise. Produced 1895-1953. Operated by Scott And Crawfork; the New Vail Mining Co.; Scott & Walker; W.A. Hicks; Olney and Mclintock, L.H. Dykes; and, the Ananais Mining Co. Owned by E.F. Epley.
Mineralization is base metal carbonates and sulfides with irregular scheelite in pyrometamorphosed tactite zones in sheared, faulted, and silicated Permian limestone. The scheelite-bearing zone strikes N50W, and dips 70SW. The host rock units are the Naco Group, Earp and Horquilla Formations. Ore control was the shear zone. An associated rock unit is quartz monzonite.
Local structures include an E-W-trending thrust fault mapped 0.25 miles north of the mine. A fault striking N49W, dipping 74SW runs through the mine workings. A quartz monzonite porphyry dike strikes generally NW. District mineralization is associated with a major Tertiary volcanic and intrusive event.
Workings included a shaft and 2 adits. The lower adit is 400 feet long with 500 feet of workings; the upper adit is 150 feet long with stoping. A total of about 180 tons of base metal ore and minor amounts of tungsten ore were produced intermittently from the 1890's to 1952.
