A former small underground Pb-Ag-Zn-Cu-Au-Mo mine located in the SE ¼ sec. 28 to the SW ¼ sec. 34, T.16S., R.30E. (Rustler Park 7.5 minute topo map), 1 mile E and NE of the Hilltop Mine. The Hilltop Extension is an area of claims east of the Hilltop Mine for which production was reported separately. Deposits are slightly higher in the section than at the Hilltop Mine. Owned at times by the Hilltop Extension Mining Co., Arizona Monte Cristo Mining Co., and the Calumet Divide Mining Co.
Mineralization is base metal sulfides and carbonates in quartz veins and in pyrometasomatic deposits in silicified and tilted Paleozoic limestones cut by Laramide or Tertiary intrusives. Host rock units include the Escabrosa Limestone and the Lower Naco Group. Alteration included silicification.
Local structures include NW-trending Paleozoic beds that dip 40-45W in this area.
Workings include extensive workings from several tunnels. One tunnel is 570 feet long, in 1927, one 300 foot tunnel, 100 foot deep winze, a 300 foot raise, and a 200 foot drift. A total of 400 tons of ore was shipped intermittently from 1923 to 1940. Some ore carried 60% Pb, 50 oz/t Ag.
