Pleistocene alluvial gravels in south Nelson.

A tributary off the Howard River. Located 16 kilometres west of St Arnaud, turn off State Highway 65 south onto the Howard Valley Road. The first stream crossing is the Maud Creek. A track extends along the creek, but its condition, or accessibility is uncertain.

Alluvial platinum was found during historic gold mining. An unusual feature of the grains is the relatively high amount of rhodium, seen as segregations of the rhodium arsenide, cherepanovite.
