Graphitbergbau Trenning (incl. Richardstollen), Mühldorf, Bezirk Krems, Niederösterreich, Österreich
Small former graphite mine that worked on a small, but several metres thick graphite lens. The mine was abandoned in 1961 (1968 according to other sources). The mining resulted in a gorge- or canyon-like excavation, at the end of which three adits are still visible. One of the adits is called Richard adit ('Richardstollen'); it was driven in the 1920s and in 1927 it was 100 m long (Mayrhofer, 1935); its final length was 350 m.
A further short adit is located in the forest above the excavation.
Located on the NW slope of Trenning mountain.
The mineralogy of this mine is currently under investigation (Kolitsch, Auer, Knobloch, Löffler, Schillhammer et al.).
