Working basanite quarry, opened in 1927 by landowner August Nixdorf.
Cenozoic Central European Volcanic Province.
Until 1985 the cable railway system transported extracted basalt from Góra Łysanka for the distance of 5km to the railway ramp in Krzeniów (German - Taschenhof).
The rock was originally classified as nephelinite (Birkenmajer, 1967; Birkenmajer & Nairn, 1969; Birkenmajer et al., 1977), later – as basanite passing into basalt (Krzyśków, 1986; Białowolska, 1993).
