Old shallow alluvial gold diggings are just south of the Lower Manorburn Weir wall, 3 kilometres north-east of Alexandra. Great activity was here in the 1860's. It was the scene of several rushes, and had the local nickname of 'Coolgardie', after the fabulously rich goldfield in Western Australia.
