World-famous vivianite crystal clusters were found during the construction of a road and tunnel east of the Virginia State Capitol district. The occurrence was about 100 meters west of the present Interstate 95 (formerly Richmond-Petersburg Toll Highway) near North 14th Street (probably not west of "old" North 14th Street and a former intersection with the now extinct Ballard Street. The locality is located within the City of Richmond and is not in Henrico County, as given by Morrill (1972).
