One of the two former major mines at Shuttleton, the other being the South Shuttleton.
The mine worked three lodes.
The mine has been known as the Commonwealth Mine. It was also described as the "Crowl Creek section" of the Crowl Creek Shuttleton Mine, although this does not appear to have been a formal name for the deposit.

Worked from 1890 to 1966.
