c. 6 km east of Ziębice is a roughly circular area, 600-700 m in diameter, of extrusive, basic alkaline igneous rocks (sawicki, 1966).
This locality in Polish geological papers is called Dębowiec - also on the Gmina Ziębice side, Ząbkowice Śląskie County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship. But in reality trachybasalts splits across two administrative boundaries and the old quarries are on the Opole Voivodeship side.
Located north of Wilemowice.
The Dębowiec trachybasalts comprise a group of small outcrops of volcanic and volcanoclastic rocks in an area 1.5×1.5 km,partly covered by Pleistocene to Holocene deposits. Lava flows and abundant near-vent pyroclastic fall deposits e.g. beds of scoria, spatter, or lapilli-tuffs as well as dykes and plugs can be identified in several old isolated workings in small distance from each other. These rocks can be tentatively linked to explosive and effusive activity of Strombolian-type cone(s), or fissure vents, with related emplacement of dykes and plugs.
