Extensively explored, with only a little gold found. Access is described as 20 kilometres east north-east of Tennant Creek via the Lone Star mine road, then onto the Perseverance mine road which is 3.5 kilometres past the Lone Star mine. At 500 metres along the Perseverance Road, a bush track heads west 1.3 kilometres, then north along a poorly defined track for 500 metres.

Country rock is siltstone, arenites and greywacke of the Warramunga Formation. Numerous small specular hematite outcrops are in the area, as well as quartz filled shears as stringers to massive blows 2-3 metres wide. There is an east-west striking ironstone body, dipping north 50-60 degrees, east plunging 55 degrees in a tightly folded anticline. Specularite is at the surface grading down to massive hematite, with a small magnetite zone. There is chlorite alteration at the ironstone margins.

The lease was granted to Nobelex in 1975 with a 21 year term. This company was purchased by Poseidon Gold in 1984, then in 1996 purchased by Normandy Tennant Creek Pty Ltd. This company was in turn purchased by Giants Reef Mining in 2001, renaming it Santexco. Through all these changes the lease was held by each company.
