Historic goldfields. Numerous shallow alluvial gold diggings, deep leads and quartz reefs have been mined here since the 1850's. Some of the diggings and reefs in this area are known to have been very rich.

Most of the historic diggings here were located east of Campbells Creek and on both the northern and southern sides of the Campbells Creek-Fryers Road.
