Mine (Abandoned) - last checked 2020
Köppen climate type:
The abandoned mine is situated 1.4 km ENE km of Mutandahwe Hill.
Previous prospecting work included seven diamond drill-holes, some 20 exploration trenches, a NW-trending adit into the orebody and two drives from each side of the adit to explore the length of the orebody. The work was done by the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) in the late 1980s. They concluded that the claims contained a small, molybdenum-rich deposit suitable for small–scale operation.
Geology: The mineralisation occurs in volcanic breccias within the plug of Masunji Granite east of Mutandahwe Hill. It is largely confined to the breccias matrix and joint fillings.
Size and orientation of deposit: Minimum size is 150 m x 30 m proved to a vertical depth of 100 m; strike NNE.
