A salt deposit located 16.4 km (10.2 miles) W of Freeport, along the E side of the San Bernard River, near Churchill Bridge, on private land. Dome discovered in 1924, mineralization discovered in 1927. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a salt dome structure (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 255; USGS model code: 35a.7 (35ag); Deposit model name: Salt-dome sulfur), hosted in Pliocene-Middle Jurassic Lovann Limestone and salt. The ore body has a depth-to-top of 231.65 meters. The depth to caprock is 760 feet and depth to the salt is 1,324 feet. The salt volume is 0.8 cubic miles to a depth of 10,560 feet. Local rocks include alluvium.
Local geologic structures include a piercement salt dome.
