A salt-gypsum occurrence located 5.1 km (3.2 miles) SSW of Liberty, immediately W of South Liberty, on private land. Discovered in 1905 by the Sulphur Springs Oil Company. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Discovery method was ore mineral not in place. H2S springs led to discovery of the dome in 1901. Sulfur was found in an oil test in 1905. The American Sulphur Company drilled 5 sulfur test holes in 1907. Two were successful.
Mineralization is a salt dome deposit hosted in the Middle Jurassic Louann Limestone and the Late Jurassic Louann Salt. The ore body has a depth-to-top of 182.88 meters. The depth to caprock is 275 feet, to the salt it is 480 feet. The salt volume was calculated at 5.4 cubic miles to 10,000 feet of deptrh. Sulfur shows at 600 feet on the dome's flank. Local alteration included biogenic alteration of anhydrock to limestone. Local rocks include alluvium.
Local geologic structures include a piercement salt dome.
