A salt dome deposit located 10.7 km (6.7 miles) NW of Palestine, along the W side of highway 19 at roads 430 & 413 (2.5 miles SE of Montalba), on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineral occurrence model information: Model code 252; USGS model code: 35a.4 (35ad); deposit model name: Salt domes: diapiric salt structures;; deposit also classifies as USGS model Gypsum 35a.6), hosted in the Late Jurassic. The ore body is a diapir at a thickness of 6,400.8 meters and a depth-to-top of 76.2 meters, width of 2,735.81 meters and a length of 7,402.78 meters. The caprock is up to 300 feet thick. The depth to the caprock is 250 feet and to the salt 300 feet. Depth to the Louann salt is 21,000 feet. It has a surface expression of 5.9 square miles. Local rocks include the Reklaw Formation and/or Kemp clay and Corsicana Marl, undivided.

Local geologic structures include piercement faults.

Reserve-Resource data are found in: Halbouty, Michel T. (1979); American Association of Petroleum Geologists Bulletin: 67 (1983).

Reserve-resource data were estimated from the top of the salt to 10,560 feet of depth. Estimated above the Ecret Limestone (Glen Rose subgroup).

Tectonics: Interior Basin (East Texas Salt Basin)

Deposit: Caprock up to 300 ft thick. Depth to caprock: 250 ft; to salt: 300 ft; to louann salt: 21,000 ft. Surface expression 5.9 sq mi. Deposit also classifies As USGS model gypsum (35a.6).
