A salt deposit located about 1.7 km (1.0 mile) WSW of Millican, on private land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Oil and gas production since 1942.
NOTE: The USGS MRDS database states that the USGS used the coordinates for the town of Millican as the locality's coordinates. The coordinates presented here are taken from the topo map for the approximate center of the cluster of identified gas wells.
Mineralization is a salt dome deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 252; USGS model code: 35a.4 (35ad); Deposit model name: Salt domes: diapiric salt structures), hosted in the Late Jurassic Louann Salt. The depth to the caprock is 4,890 feet and to the salt it is 5,170 feet. The ore body is a diapir with a depth-to-top of 1,490.47 meters. Local rocks include high gravel deposits.
