The mine was originally known as the Brumby. The only information found under this name was the lease taken out in 1910 by William Patterson Macfarlane from Broad Arrow. GML 1511W. 24 acres.
Information is next found for D.C. (Scotty) Anderson, and Jock Kennedy, and the mine takes a decided Scottish turn. Both were members of the Goldfields Pipe Band. They name the mine the Highland Fling. Relative Angela Anderson has posted a picture of the two at the mine on Bonzle dated 1935 (possibly 1945, as newspaper articles found state the two took up the lease in that year). The photograph shows a basic wooden head frame, winder, a terrier, and the two men,the mine on a ridge with views.
Crushing information was found from 1946 to 1949. A new shaft was sunk to 70 feet with 40 feet of cross cutting on a talcose schist lode with a small hematite stringer through it, which pinched and swelled, and was surrounded by a gold enriched halo.
