The Fossey mine, Lindengraben shafts.

This mine was part of the “Vieille Montagne Moresnet concession” with headquarters in the management building in Kelmis/La Calamine, the current MVM Museum Vieille Montagne. The ores were transported by horse and cart via the Luisenstollen to the washplant in Kelmis/La Calamine, located on the site of the former Altenberg mine.

The Fossey mine is located north of Astenet and 2.6 km SE of Kelmis.

Ancient zinc and lead mine (starting in 1878 and abandoned in 1923) exploiting 6 ore bodies (Lindengraben was the 6th ore body, discovered in 1900).

There were two main shafts in Lindengraben; in Prester there was a ventilation shaft.

Prester and Lindengraben had an underground connection. From this connection at -35 meters, they dug a dewatering adit to the river Gueule, more than 600 meters away. Through this dewatering adit, the Luisenstollen, they also transported the ore to the concentrator in Kelmis.
