Anderson Mine; Anderson-Calhoun Mine
A large lead-zinc mine near Leadpoint. The ore occurred as a breccia zone in dolomite. The deposit was first discovered in 1910 and was drilled by the US Government during WWII. It was developed largely from 1963-1968 and produced close to 1,000,000 tons of ore. Most of the development was contained within two small open pits. Ore averaged less than 4% combined lead and zinc over the life of the mine.
