The Mount Newman gold prospect is 5 kilometres south-west of the Bannockburn gold mine. There is also a Mount Newman Ni prospect elsewhere in the region.
The prospect contains massive sulphide gossans, linear gossans and quartz vein breccia. Weathering is deep at 80 metres from the surface, of saprolite clays and saprock.
Below this weathering zone is several anomalous gold zones, associated with quartz veins and pyrite. Some gold zones also appear in the weathering profile.
There is little surface evidence of the prospect, and the Mindat co-ordinates are in the vicinity based on maps.
