The Mystery is 80 kilometres north of Sandstone, and just north-west of the Sandstone-Meekatharra Road, and Colga Downs Station (East) intersection. Activity was found between 1908 and 1911. In 1910, Lupton and party owned it and were stoping at the 100 foot level, with 140 tonnes of ore at grass. They intended to send the ore to the Great Saddle Reef battery at Erroll's. E.R. Morgan had pegged the lease in 1911, already being described as the 'old' Mystery mine.
The mine was said to be on the same line and north of the Sugarstone gold mine. There was a shaft to 100 feet, the water level, the ground mainly kaolin. Another shaft to the north accessed an 8 foot wide quartz reef, showing two parallel layers of quartz of different character. In 1908, 62 tonnes of ore had been crushing for 112 ounces of gold.
In keeping with its name, little information could be found.
