The Atley prospect is in the far south-west portion of the Sandstone Greenstone Belt. It is just south of the Bell Chambers area, and close to the Sandstone-Paynes Find Road.
It is a north-south feature, covered by 5 to 7 metres of granitic sands and gravels.
The exploration team was surprised to find a semi contiguous sequence of mafic/ultramafic lithologies, up to 400 metres wide, intruded by regular, and fine grained aplite dykes. A multi element suite of geochemistry was uncovered including arsenic, cobalt, copper, nickel, lead and zinc.
