The Airport prospect is 500 metres east of the Sandstone town site, 100 metres north of the road that runs east of the town, and directly east of the airfield. The location is marked by a small shallow square exploration pit.
The initial anomaly was found to be material transported along drainage channels from the Oroya mine tailings to the south. However, 'native' structures were found at the site, being a series of axial planar faults, along strike from the Oroya gold deposit. A major Proterozoic dyke also runs through the northern portion of the prospect. Exploration occurred at the intersections of a series of north-east, and north-south faults, but failed to identify any major gold mineralisation.
