A former Pb-Zn-Au mine located SSE of Ouray along the Uncompahgre River, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in andesite breccia. Local rocks include pre-ash-flow andesitic lavas, breccias, tuffs, and conglomerates.
Workings include unspecified underground openings.
Additional mineralization at Yellow Jacket is documented as sphalerite with pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena (Ransome 1901, USGS B182, p. 72,77,81), with detailed sphalerite color zoning & geochemistry (Fox & Gonzales 2017, GSA RM Abstracts, Paper 293159). Regional symposium notes list galena, sphalerite, cosalite, tetrahedrite from the property (Friends of Mineralogy CO 2017, Ouray Symposium Proceedings, 54 p.).
