The Grand National Gold Mine is 15 kilometres south-east of Marvel Loch in an area called Burbidge, containing nine open pits. The mine is 500 metres south south-west of the Great Victoria Mine, and less than 100 metres south of the Tenacious Pig Mine, and less than 100 metres north-east of the Flying Pig Mine (yes these are real names).
The open pit was developed in the 1980's by Sons of Gwalia Ltd. Limited historic shaft development occurred at the site before the open pit.
Information was found for 1914. The shaft was down to 200 feet on a low grade sulphide lode at the 192 foot level. The lease was forfeited in mid 1915.
The Marvel Loch Gold Mining Company had an option over the mine in 1935.
