The site is marked by a small abandoned open pit, 500 metres west of Southern Cross.
The Yellowdine Gold Options NL took over the mine in early 1935. At this time there were several shallow prospecting shafts along the line of lode and a main shaft to 80 feet. Gold averaged 9 dwt on a lode 10 feet wide.
The company extended the shaft, and installed a 10 head battery. Gold grades however did
not meet expectations. A collapse of some of the underground workings also caused the company grief, as it did not have the money to repair it. Work continued at a reduced rate from 1937. Eventually the company was confined to cyaniding the sands, after shareholders refused to invest more money into the enterprise. By 1939, Yellowdine had left the scene, and the battery was being sold.
