Apart from a small open pit, virtually nothing remains of this historic mining area, having been bulldozed, and used as a rock deposit site for road base. The location borders the Coolgardie North Road, just south of its intersection with the Jaurdi Hills Road. The mine appears to have been active from 1895, but information found is very limited, and confusing as both the mine and leases in the immediate area are called Kintore in the sources.
The Kintore Mine appears to have been active from at least 1895. One source states in May 1895 the mine has new owners after being abandoned by an English company, but fails to name either. Another source states the new owners are a company floated in London with 50 000 pounds capital. By 1898, the mine is abandoned again, and being worked by a party of prospectors.
Various information was found about prospectors making new finds and pegging leases in the early 1930's, near the Kintore Mine. More information was found for company development in the late 1930's and again the late 1940's, but in both cases some of the sources state it is the old Kintore Mine, while others state it was the Makale lease at Kintore. They state from 1937 to 1940, the Gold Fields Development Company controlled the mine.
In 1946, the mine is under option to the Sterling Gold Mines NL from prospectors Spargo and Cooper (surnames) who owned the mine after Gold Fields Development exited. In both cases, there was development work, but it appears little ore was mined. Gold was described at this time as being very erratic.
