The Newminster Gold Mine is located approximately 60 kilometres north-west of Coolgardie, and 10 kilometres east of Dunnsville, on the Dunnsville-Kintore Road. It is a small abandoned open pit, with the Bacchus Gift and Newhaven open pits a few hundred metres to the east. The Newminster mine borders the north side of the road.
Underground mining took place at Newminster in the 1930's. Modern open pit development took place in the mid 1990's and then 1999 by Barminco, producing 41 974 tonnes of ore at 3.9 g/t yielding 5269 ounces of gold.
Barra Resources took over the tenement in 2000. Early 2013, Barra contracted Blue Tiger Mining to conduct further mining at Newminster. This brief period saw 53 986 tonnes extracted at 2.7 g/t yielding 4331 ounces of gold. Mining stopped as the gold price fell. The company states there is significant further mineralisation below the base of the existing pit.
