The Easter Gift Gold Mine is about 25 kilometres south-west of Coolgardie, and 10 kilometres north-west of the Queen Victoria Rocks Road, in an area of historic gold mines inactive since the early 1930's.
Gold was discovered in the area in 1896, and there was an alluvial rush, with a couple of minor mines subsequently developed, including the Easter Gift. It was on the same lode as the De Beer's mine established about the same time.
There were three shafts on the property at this time. The first showed fine grained ore strongly impregnated with chocolate brown Fe oxides, with occasional fine quartz leaders, and gold studded. The number 2 shaft had sandstone and quartz carrying gold to the 54 foot level depth the shaft had been sunk to. The third shaft was down to 50 feet and had been abandoned.
Shareholders in the mine in 1896 were considering two options. To sell the property to E. Vauxetti for 10 000 pounds, or float the mine in London. The second option was rejected. It is uncertain if the first option was accepted, as information about the mine dis-appears after this. The low grade of the ore appears to have discouraged active development. It may have been worked by prospectors for a time, information on which did not reach the public domain. The mine was still active in 1902, when a prospector called Gulley died when he fell 80 feet down the shaft.
The Mindat co-ordinates are approximate. The Lloyd George, Carlton, De Beers, and Limerick historic gold mines are in the immediate area, it appears in a north-south line of old workings, however their exact locations are is not known.
