A former Ag-Pb-Au-Cu mine located in secs. 18, 19 and in the SE¼NW¼ sec. 30, T7N, R25E, MDM, 2.8 km (9,000 feet) NE of Wheeler Peak, along Ferris Canyon (N side), on National Forest land. Property consisted of 15 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is vein deposit hosted in andesite and rhyolite. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes N20E and dips 45W, at 4 feet (1.22 meters) thick. Rich lenses of dark blue ore occur where a series of parallel NS-SW faults cut the vein. The faults do not displace the vein to any extent. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 17 (Cascade Range).

Workings include underground openings comprised of 4 levels containing 14,000 feet of adits, tunnels, drifts and crosscuts.

Production data are found in: Goodwin (1957).

The Kentuck Mine was reported to have produced up to $500,000 (period values) through 1884. The claims were shut down in 1938. No other production record found.

Commodity information: High-grade ore said to average 16 ounces Ag/ton. A lenticular mass of ore near the footwall returned $200 to $600/ton (period values).

Analytical data results: Smelter assays dated 1911 showed: Sorted ore: 0.29 ounces Au, 241.01 ounces Ag; concentrate: 0.47 ounces Au and 1,484.18 ounces Ag.
