The mine was developed in 1844 in copper-lead-silver mineralisation,
and was worked intermittently until 1909.
Although production figures are incomplete, it is estimated approx. >200 tonne was raised, recovering copper and lead ores.

The mine later became part of the Rapid Bay Limestone Quarry. Occasional silver-lead and copper minerals are found within the original area of this mine.
