Developed in 1865 on galena rich lode within the Fork Tree Limestone host.
The lode contained baryte, calcite, gossan, galena, cerussite, smithsonite and various copper ores.
A total of 12 shafts were sunk on the galena bearing lodes, with another four shafts sunk on lodes containing copper minerals.
The lodes were reportedly rich, with production figures in excess of 200 tonnes of dressed ore from over 500 tonnes of ore raised.
A crushing plant was erected in late 1867, but after two years mining ceased in 1869.
The Broken Range Silver Mining Syndicate Ltd. attempted to work the mine in 1910, without success.
The mine later became part of the Rapid Bay Limestone Quarry.
