A small silver-lead mine, which was opened in 1912 on an irregular deposit of argentiferous galena. Workings included multiple shafts and drives, the mine was active until 1918 and for a short period in 1919. Gold was identified via assay, in 1917. By 1921 all activity other than some prospecting work had wound down.
Report from 1917 indicated that there was a considerable amount of zinc ore (42%Zn) stockpiled.
Recorded production in the first few weeks show 68kg ore raised at 15oz/t Ag, 75% Pb.
Full production records are incomplete, with ~508 tonne ore recorded as raised for 112 tonne lead, 6322oz (196.6kg) silver, and further no yield recorded.
The mine later became part of the Rapid Bay Limestone Quarry. Field trips to the quarry often recovered silver-lead minerals in this area.
