Find 1940, 19 kg
A mass was found by the road near the Ems river near Holland. Before human discovery interactions with soil acids in the sandy soil had already produced a natural Widmanstätten pattern on the bottom side. Most of the surface of the mass (~22x19x13 cm) is covered with regmaglypts. Neumann bands and pre-terrestrial schreibersite rich veins attest to previous preterrestrial shocks with the veins now cemented by terrestrial corrosion. Overall, troilite is somewhat sparse. However, cavities produced by atmospheric interactions with troilite nodules have been reported.
For the past few decades, the primary mass has been held at the University of Göttingen (>18 kg in 2000).
