The locality is a small fluorite mine ENE of Nyaung-gyin village, at the banks of Udaung-chaung. The mine is temporarily operated by local villagers. Udaung Chaung is a stream in Myanmar and has an elevation of 77 m (253 ft). Udaung Chaung is south of Ngagyin Chaung, a river located in the central part of the country in Mandalay Region, approximately 400 km (250 mi) north of Nay Pyi Taw the country's capital. Udaung Chaung and Ngagyin Chaung are part of the Irrawaddy River watershed.
NOTE: Most likely, the majority of the purple botryoidal fluorites in the Mogok fluorite photo gallery on Mindat originate from this place!
Nyaung Gyin is a small village in Thabeikkyin (Tha-Beik-Kyin) Township. The village is located approximately 16 km (10 mi) north of the town of Thabeikkyin itself. The township of Thabeikkyin, a third-level administrative division of Myanmar and District sub-division, is located in Pyin Oo Lwin District in the Mandalay Region of Burma. It is the northernmost township in Pyin Oo Lwin District and, although it primarily lies on the east bank (left bank) of the Irrawaddy River, it has a small enclave on the western bank extending as far as the village of Gagalaw, near the town of Baw in Katha District, Sagaing Region. On the south it borders Singu Township, on the east, Mogote Township and further north Shan State, while it abuts Tigyaing Township of Sagaing Region to the north.
