Although Mozambique is richly endowed with mineral resources, the only noteworthy alluvial, eluvial and hard rock tin mining took place in the region around Inchope. The mineralization occurs in pegmatitic veins but greisen may also host tin mineralization.
The highest tin grades with up to 8% tin (!) have been reported from Monte Doeroi, some 10 km SSW of Inchope. Mining stopped towards the end of the colonial era in the 1970s. Very little modern exploration has been carried out since then.
