Iron, IIIAB (Om) - shock-hardened, weathered
Found 1922, 20 kg
Two similar and badly oxidized masses (11.3 kg, 9.1 kg) were plowed up about 5 km southwest of Glasgow. The pieces were so weathered that Widmanstätten figures were visible without etching. The smaller was sent to the U.S. National Museum. The meteorite's dominant lithology is its shock-hardened kamacite with troilite nodules. Fe-Ni metal [~7.6% Ni] also includes taenite ribbons and plessite. Troilite, often with included daubréelite, is present. Schreibersite is also found, particularly at grain boundaries. Lawrencite, a corrosive Cl-bearing weathering product first discovered in meteorites, is all too evident.
As of 2000, 4.047 kg still remained with the U.S. National Museum in Washington, DC.
