The apatite and mica leads occur in fissure veins
in pyroxenite.
A former phosphate producer, the lease was
obtained in 1893 by the Lake Girard Mica System
and a pit was sunk to a depth of nearly 100
feet. In 1903 T.J. Smith secured an option and
worked the property until it was taken over by
the Kingston Feldspar Mining Company. Several
surface pits were opened up.
