A quarry in the what is called the Milan member of the Compton formation.
This is devonian - silurian age sedimentary rock formed in the Japetus ocean before it closed. The rock here exposed seems like the definition noted there, mudrock going towards shale. I asked permission of the owner Mr Champagne.
There is quartz veins and some pyrite in the mudrock.
I made two visits in August 2013.
