The Kakachaka antimony district includes a belt of antimony mines stretching from Cacachaca in Oruro to almost Uncia in neighboring Potosí department (the Terremoto and La India mines).
The main ore mineral was stibnite, contaminated by 0.5 < 8% Pb in the form of jamesonite and galena.
The Cacachaca area frequently suffers from battles and tribal conflict because of boundary disputes between Oruro and Potosí departments, so there is disagreement about which side of the border some of the sublocalities here may belong to, government pronouncements notwithstanding.
