A small acid pegmatite vein outcrops on a granite hill 8 kilometres east-north-east of the main Poona emerald mining centre. Any official name for the location is unknown.

A sample was submitted for study to the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) by A. Sipos of Mount Magnet in September 1962, and it was initially misidentified as bismutite. It was re-examined in 1970, and the material was found to be russellite. At the time, it was only the second known occurrence, although Mindat lists several worldwide sites for the species now.

The russellite is very fine-grained, poorly crystallized, yellow to pale green, and within a mix of bismite, koechlinite, and bismutite.

The pegmatite is almost vertical, 61 metres long by 1 metre wide, with numerous offshoots. In 1970, prospectors had dug a pit 30 metres long by 1.5 metres deep, but the present state of the site is unknown.

The pegmatite is composed of quartz and muscovite, but the reference does not describe if it is zoned. Minor wolframite, beryl, secondary brochantite, and yellow earthy patches of the russellite mix also occur. Bismutite also occurs separately.
