In February 1937, W.G. Armstrong sent a 35 gr fragment to a local newspaper, who then sent it to the Western Australian Museum. The mass was found close according to government geologist E.S. Simpson to 'Battewmurnana Hill, 20 miles south south-east of the Kumerina copper field'. Simpson either got his spelling wrong or has since changed. The hill is Batthewmurnama, near the Kumarina Roadhouse.

The meteorite's size is 35 x 25 x 25 cm. On end is smoothly convex and the other deeply and broadly eroded. It contains 9.55% nickel with an approximate specific gravity of 7.6. Several ragged pieces of cohenite were seen under the microscope with uneven crystal development. Troilite is also mentioned. Kamacite lamellae is 0.2-0.4 mm wide with a few broader ones surrounding cohenite. It is an octahedrite. Simpson states no complete analysis had been done on the specimen.

The total mass was 53.5 kg.
