Red Devil Mercury Mine
Hydrothermal mercury deposit, worked intermittently from 1933 until 1971. The site was officially abandoned in 1981.
The mine produced 36,000 flasks (1,224 metric tons) of mercury, making it Alaska's largest mercury producer. Except for the last few years of operation, when concentrated ores were shipped to Japan for further processing, the ores were fully processed on the site.
