Valea Roșie-exploatarea miniera
Au-Ag ore mineralisations in quartz-andesites and subvolcanic bodies. Metalliferous accumulations, initially formed by magmatogenesis, show two hydrothermal stage processes: at first, precipitated Pb-Zn-Cu sulphides, native gold and pyrite, in the second formed the silver minerals (proustite, polybasite, acanthite, pyrargyrite, stephanite), the latter of them growing on the gangue of carbonate minerals.
There were identified over 40 veins and prospected two mining galleries: Calzantius and Evanghelist. Mineralized floor thickness not exceeding 600 m. This Au-Ag ore deposit represented the main mining gold and silver ore in the Baia Mare District.
